YEAYYY!!!!!!!

ONE HEART CHARITY have officially ended with tremendous success!!!

We have collected a total amount of RM 5 451 :)

RM 1 650 was donated to Sinthamani Divine Life Ashram
and
RM1 650 was donated to Persatuan Warga Emas.

RM2151 was spent on groceries and blankets for the homes.

THE BRIEF

In the spirit of Christmas and giving, i have decided (for quite some time now) to run a charity drive to help the needy in like a months time to collect donations for these two care homes.

This old folks home/orphanage have around 30 occupants and it is run by a lady, which has about 30 occupants. The home is a corner house, with rental of RM1000 per month. As this is a private initiative by the housekeeper’s husband, they had earlier spent their own money for the house renovations and it is running with limited resources.

After speaking with Mr Yoges(The housekeeper’s husband), i got to know that what they needed most was a new roof as the current roof is leaking when it rains. They also need new bedframes as most of them are sleeping on shabby beds and tilam at the moment (They need at least 10 of those foldable types). You can see the metal-like beds that is currently used in the photos uploaded in this event. They also need new stainless steel water boiler (Those you see on coffee shops) because the one that they currently have is spoiled for a very very long time(due to lightning). They are also trying to do renovation work for their shabby place but are lacking of funds as well. The wife, also requested for a blender as it makes it easier to cook for the senior citizens.

There are 31 children (all Indian Malaysian-8 without birth certificate) at the Ashram; youngest being just one month old and oldest 21 yrs (who is now helping there).

There are also 3 Single mothers and an old folk man & a lady aged, +70 who had taken shelter there as their home.

The Ashram was started by Praveendran five years ago taking care of only 4-5 kids then, but later grew to these large numbers.
The Ashram as explained, is Praveen’s grandfather’s place for many years, occupying on DBKL land and the building structure had not received approval from Jabatan Kebajikan & Bomba. The house is still a wooden structure with asbestos roofing (also the wall extension).

Currently there is no proper toilet facility and Praveen is now constructing a common out door toilet at the backyard. The would need fund/donation to do renovation on the toilet, and possibly items for the babies (3 of them) living at the place at the moment.

What would i need?

Donations of any kind.

Donations of any kind. Cash would be REALLY good because we can then donate it to them to fund their renovation works. (As you know, renovation of any kind is not cheap at all :( )

The extra cash will allow me to buy some groceries for these homes.

If you have things lying around your home which you think would be of better use for these kids/senior citizens, do pass them to me as well. I will be around Klang Valley so do drop me a message and i can pass you my mobile number and we can arrange a meetup.

I sincerely thank all donations in kind and appreciate all the help i can get with this.

As this is a charity event, i do not wish to advertise it under my name or anything as it is a PUBLIC effort. Amount of cash collected will be published in this page and updated daily. Hopefully we can generate enough donation to help these two homes stock up on the necessities for the coming new year and also school term or possibly help them do any renovation works on their home to make their living condition better.
